We want to develop many nuclear, geothermal, wind, and solar energy. If we just sufficently used just wind, solar, and geothermal, all of which are reusable and have no consequences on the environment in a few decades we would barely be using petroleum fuels. All drilling oil now would do is to decrease oil prices and decrease our dependence on foreign oil companies.

Eventually we can even use cars that run on hydrogen, and if we use all the alternative fuels we can we won’t even need oil anymore for energy. It’s not the republicans standing in the way of this. It’s actually the democtrats. Stop listening to what the democrats are says about it and look at what they are actually DOING about it.

Nancy Polocy last week shut down the electricty to the senate when they were trying to make a bill to decrease energy costs, specifically what I was not speaking about. A democrat did that, and the only real reason that I can see if because a republican suggested the alternative fuel bill, rather than a democrat.

The only thing that Obama has suggested to decrease fuel cost is to drive less and fill up our tires, decrease the amount we eat, and that we can’t buy the cars we want anymore, or have the AC at the temp we want it to be. thats all I’ve heard. At lease Mcain has a plan, and the guts to share it. Yes we do need to conservie, but we also need plans to use reusable fuels throught our country. Not just clammor for "change".

As to your statement about the amount we have here… that is patently false. If ALL the oil sources in America were tapped, we would have an amount comparable to Saudi Arabia… and that ain’t a small amount, Bud.

How much funding is enough in your mind. Alternative fuel research has been funded. But I also ask you why does the government have to fund it? This is a capitalistic society. If something is a good idea, people will make it… because they want to make money. That is how the REAL world works.

We should have been working on this problem decades ago. EVERY president has talked about our unhealthy addiction to oil but only one president ever actually did anything about it, and that was Jimmy Carter. When Ronald Reagan came in, he couldn’t wait to undo all the good work Carter had done, even ripping out the solar panels on the roof of the White House. Reagan said he wanted the market to solve the problem, but when it comes to oil the market is not a free market because no real alternatives exist.

According to the experts in the field by drilling today we can have more domestic oil here in 1-6 years not the 10 years falsely claimed by know nothings. Does anyone know just how long it will be before we develop a reliable source of alternative fuels ???
